Associated Black Charities To Host Annual Gala, “To Baltimore, With Love…”

Associated Black Charities (ABC) is excited to announce our annual gala on June 10th, 2023, at The Hall at Live! Casino. This year’s theme, To Baltimore, With Love.., is ABC’s love letter to Baltimore, celebrating 38 years of service, and honoring grassroots community organizations who have made the commitment to create a positive impact in the city and in the Black Community.

This year’s program honorees include Black Church Food Security Network, Fight Blight Baltimore, Black Arts District, Mentoring Male Teens in the Hood, Squeegee Collaborative Leadership Team, Black Professional Men, Youth Resiliency Institute, Community Concert Choir of Baltimore, and the main awardee of the evening, The Afro. Each honoree will have a video presentation that highlights their work, commitment to community, and will provide on-stage remarks. Event activities will include a Cocktail Reception with renowned pianist, Chester Burke, a special Baltimore themed VIP Experience, Photobooth, and performances from Baltimore’s own Dru Hill, Navasha Daya, and DJ Tanz! The event is anticipated to sell out.

“In 2023, Associated Black Charities continues our commitment to leading the charge around diversity, racial equity, and inclusion and increasing accountability in that space”, said Chrissy M. Thornton, ABC’s new President and CEO. “Our focus is on ensuring we strengthen the organization’s footing as a convener of those committed to dismantling racism and promoting equity across Baltimore and the rest of Maryland”, she continued. “What ABC needs most from the community now is engagement, and our ABC Gala is the perfect opportunity to get connected and celebrate our work.”

In order to remain a sustainable organization with a commitment to having impact on the many ways structural racism affects the Black community, Associated Black Charities counts on meaningful partnerships and collaboration. To Baltimore, With Love…, offers opportunities at varying sponsorship levels and ABC is hopeful to receive much needed support as we continue to advance our mission.
