Dana Tyler
CBS 2 Anchor
Dana Tyler joined CBS 2 in July 1990 as weekend co-anchor and reporter. She serves
as co-anchor of the CBS 2 NEWS at 6:00 p.m. with Michael Pomeranz and the CBS
2 NEWS at 11:00 p.m. with Ernie Anastos.
Tyler also serves as the voice of the CBS 2 News Sunday Morning special reports
on The Metropolitan Museum of Art. CBS 2 has been the Museum's broadcast partner
since February 2003.
An integral part of the CBS 2 news team for more than 12 years, Tyler received
the 1996 Emmy Award for Outstanding Newscast for anchoring the station's coverage
of the New York City subway firebombing. She has also received numerous nominations
for Best Live Coverage, Best Newscast and Outstanding Coverage of an Instant Breaking
News Story.
Tyler's credits at CBS 2 include hosting "FULFILLING THE DREAM,"
the station's tribute to individuals and organizations making a difference in
the tri-state area's multi-ethnic communities, and emceeing "Share a Walk,"
a CBS 2-sponsored fundraiser helping to fight breast and ovarian cancers.
Additionally, Tyler has served as a classroom volunteer and supporter of Learning
Leaders, the 10,000-member organization dedicated to the city's 1.1 million public
school students, and is involved with Cancer Care, a national organization that
helps people with cancer and their families.
Tyler began her broadcasting career at an early age as an intern for Columbus,
Ohio's WCOL Radio and the CBS affiliate WBNS-TV. In 1981, WBNS-TV hired her as
a general assignment reporter. She also co-anchored the weekend and weeknight
newscasts during her tenure at the station. In 1987, Tyler received an Outstanding
Anchor Emmy Award for her work on the popular "Heart of Ohio" broadcasts.
Tyler graduated from Boston University's School of Management with a degree
in marketing and broadcast journalism.
